New ShetlandPeerieMakkers Coordinator appointed

The Brough Lodge Trust, which provides hand-knitting tuition for school children through ShetlandPeerieMakkers, has appointed a new Consultant Coordinator.  Amanda McCartney has been appointed with immediate effect.  She takes over from Tracey Hawkins, who successfully coordinated the project over the past five years.

Brough Lodge Trust Chair Pierre Cambillard said:

‘We had several high-quality candidates for the consultant coordination appointment, which demonstrates the level of interest in ShetlandPeerieMakkers.  When it comes to hand knitting, it’s clear that this is a dynamic community.  Of course, Shetland Wool Week underlines that, too.  It will, for sure, be a tremendous celebration for the many local and overseas knitters who are anxious to meet again.”

Pierre Cambillard added that, as a result of the interruption caused by covid 19, new volunteer Head Tutors will have to be recruited in some schools, a process which will take several weeks.  “But, in the majority of schools, the existing volunteers will be ready to start soon, with a fresh enthusiasm.”
